Extensible Data Model:

LabPlus integrates a dynamic data-modeling technology that allows laboratories to extend the default data model to support their operational needs. For instance, a laboratory can use this feature to manage the data related to something specific to the laboratory (ex. laboratory divisions) and link this new data entity to other default system entities. These extended entities and their related attributes are handled by the system as any other default one. |

Business Rules Configurability:

LabPlus integrates a PlugIns technology that provides laboratories with the ability to alter the default business rules and to implement new business rules to support their operational needs. For instance, with a PlugIns the laboratory can modify the mask used to automatically generate the sample names used to identify the samples for a specific laboratory section. |

States Machine Engine and Workflow:

LabPlus integrates a State Machine Engine that defines the states available for each entity (ex. a sample can have states such as: prelog, new, assigned, completed, etc.) and the allowable transitions (ex. from new to assigned). When used in conjunction with LabPlus PlugIns technology this engine is a very powerful tool for the management of the laboratory and the definition of custom workflows. |

Web Services XML-based Interface:

The LabPlus Web Service Interface provides a simple standard compliant way of interfacing enterprise systems and analytical instruments to LabPlus. In addition, the LabPlus Web Service Interface greatly simplifies data migration from legacy systems and the initial system configuration. |

AJAX Technology (Asynchronous Javascript and XML):

To overcome the typical limitations of a web based user interface, LabPlus Technology has integrated the AJAX technology in LabPlus. This provides a web-based user experience similar to what users have come to expect from desktop applications. For instance, the AJAX technology allows direct results validations during result entry. |
