LabPlus Application Development with LinkPlus-ActiveX - 3 days

This course is for advanced users who need solid knowledge of the system to customize the system for other LabPlus users and who want to use the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit to develop custom LabPlus applications. The most popular use of the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit is to design custom screens and interfaces to the LabPlus system and provide access to lab data through other systems. Course exercises and examples are developed with Visual Basic 6.0.

Objectives

- Bring the participants to acquire the required knowledge and be able to use the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit.
- Familiarize participants with the components of the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit, bringing them to evaluate which component to use for a specific task.
- Give a preview of the steps and requirements to build an application with the LinkPlus-ActiveX components.

- LabPlus data model presentation.
- Allow participants to acquire the knowledge and abilities required to execute standard customization.
- Point out the importance of following the proposed methodology to remain compliant with good laboratory practices and protect data integrity.
- Introduction to the ActiveX Technology.
- Introduction to LinkPlus-ActiveX.
- Assembly of applications using VB with each component of the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit.
- Discussion of the procedure for the assembly of application pages containing objects from the LinkPlus-ActiveX toolkit.

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of Visual Basic 6.0 or Access 2000/2003 and of the SQL language. |

Exercises
|
|
- To maximize hands-on practice time, a template program guides the participants through the assembly of an operating application.
- Use of the program template and LinkPlus-ActiveX tools to obtain a functional application.
